  • No previous singing or choral experience is required to be part of the Low Voice Collective. If you are curious to join us, please do so and we will support you as we make music together!

  • Join the LVC mailing list to stay informed about our upcoming projects and rehearsals. Our practices are open to anyone curious about singing with the Low Voice Collective. If you sing in a low register but don’t know where you fit in or what voice type you are, join the mix and we’ll help you along the way!

  • The LVC is a queer collective; a low-pressure, safe opportunity for gay, transitioning, non-binary, and queer-identifying singers to gather and explore their voice and low-voice choral music. It’s a welcoming place for any low-voiced individual (tenor or bass) from the 2SLGBTQIA+ community.

  • The LVC is a non-auditioned group and no audition is required to participate in the Low Voice Collective. Simply show up as you are and join the fun!

  • A basic knowledge of sheet music is helpful but absolutely not a requirement to participate.

  • Currently there is no cost to participate in the LVC thanks to public funding from the Manitoba Arts Council. This may need to be reevaluated if funding changes.

  • The LVC celebrates all kinds of low voice music, focussing on tenor and bass choral repertoire. We strive to choose music that is culturally appropriate, thematic, and connected to our shared history.

  • The LVC will perform from time to time and values sharing our music as an important means of community connection.

  • If you are exploring your newly changing voice, attend an LVC practice knowing that it is a safe, low-pressure environment to sing, make some sounds, and possibly discover your authentic voice!

  • The LVC practice space is a welcoming, fun environment to make noise and meet new people. We encourage anyone who is interested to attend a practice knowing that there are no expectations on the group or any individual.

  • Don’t bring anything other than an open mind and a willingness to sing out!

  • If you are curious to collaborate, please reach out. We are a small, volunteer run organization with limited availability. Our priority is other 2SLGBTQIA+ projects and organizations.
